It is an alloy composed primarily of iron, with other ingredients added including nickel, titanium, aluminum, copper, nitrogen, phosphorous, and selenium. 316 is the second most common stainless steel (after grade 304). Its the idea stainless steel for kitchens with hard water that can create calcium. While 316 is not completely rust-proof, the alloy is more corrosion resistant than other common stainless steels.
